About this hub
Takes place on the 1st Friday of each month
Drop in between 11am and 12pm to speak to your local Community Sight Loss Advisor.
Appointments are also available – contact us to book.
Stay for the friendly social group from 11am to 1pm.
Friends and family are very welcome too.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed, have been living with sight loss for a long time, or are supporting someone who is visually impaired, this hub is here for you.
Advice and support from your local Sight Loss Advisor
At this monthly hub, your local Sight Loss Advisor offers practical, personalised advice to help you manage daily life in a way that works for you. They can:
- Demonstrate equipment that could make daily tasks easier
- Suggest ways to manage at home or when out and about
- Explain your eye condition and what registration or certification means
- Offer tips on continuing to read with sight loss
- Talk you through local and online opportunities to socialise
- Advise on finances and employment
- Introduce specialist magnifiers and electronic equipment
- Share details of our services and events
- Signpost you to other organisations that may be able to help
A friendly social group
The social group at this hub offers a warm, friendly space where you can drop in for a cuppa, have a chat, or simply enjoy being around others who understand sight loss. It’s volunteer-led and open to everyone.
Digital Skills Support
Technology doesn’t have to be daunting. At this hub, your Sight Loss Advisor can talk through some of the simple digital tools that could make everyday life a little easier, whether that’s reading a letter, using your phone, or getting online.
They can:
- Talk about some of the accessibility features on smartphones and tablets
- Signpost you to helpful apps or assistive devices
Support is tailored to you, we’ll go at your pace and focus on what feels most useful.
