See the difference
Promoting eye health awareness across Gloucestershire

See the difference is Insight Gloucestershire’s eye health awareness campaign, encouraging local businesses, opticians and community organisations to promote good eye health and support blind and partially sighted people across Gloucestershire.
Together, we can help more people understand the importance of looking after their sight, encourage regular eye tests and ensure those living with sight loss know where to turn for advice and support.
Why eye health matters
Regular eye tests do far more than check how well you can see. They can detect the early signs of eye conditions before your vision is affected and may also reveal indicators of other health issues, making them an important part of looking after your overall wellbeing.
Many eye conditions become more common with age and often develop without any obvious symptoms. Having regular eye examinations means potential problems can be identified and treated at an early stage, helping to protect your sight, maintain your independence and improve long-term eye health.
By making eye health a priority and encouraging routine eye tests, we can help prevent avoidable sight loss and ensure people receive the treatment or support they need as early as possible.
How you can get involved
Getting involved is simple, free and can make a real difference. As a Gloucestershire based business, opticians or community group, you could:
Invite us to your workplace or community group for a free 30-minute talk about eye health, sight loss and the support available across Gloucestershire.
Display our campaign posters and eye health leaflets in your workplace, branch, reception area or community venue.
Share our campaign messages through your newsletters, website, email communications and social media using our ready-made content.
Hold a simple fundraising activity such as a coffee morning, raffle, bake sale or dress-down day. Every pound raised helps local people living with sight loss. For example, £58 funds a one-to-one session with one of our Digital Skills Advisors, while £232 funds one monthly Community Sight Loss Hub in one of our eleven locations across Gloucestershire.
Encourage colleagues, customers, members, family and friends to book an eye test if theirs is overdue.
See the Difference this National Eye Health Week
This year’s National Eye Health Week takes place from Monday 21 September to Sunday 27 September and provides the perfect opportunity to get involved.
Join businesses, opticians and community organisations across Gloucestershire in supporting See the difference. Together, you can encourage your colleagues, and community group members to look after their eye health, promote regular eye tests and help ensure that no one faces sight loss alone.
