Meet the Trustees of Insight Gloucestershire

I became a user of Insight after sight loss stopped me in my tracks and found the resources and staff extremely helpful.  I now use my lived experience of sight loss to help inform the Board and to help the organistion focus on the things that matter. I want to make sure this organisation continues to help many others in the way they helped me.

In my professional life, I was an occupational therapist with a special interest in building design and accessibility for disabled people. Now I’m working with writers and creatives and waiting for a guide dog.

Carl brings over 30 years of experience in operational management, with a strong track record of growing and leading healthcare businesses. In the past 15 years, he has helped scale several acute healthcare companies, combining strategic thinking with a commitment to quality and safety in regulated environments. Carl’s passion for collaboration and community also extends to his voluntary work. He serves on the advisory committee of the Bath, NE Somerset and Wiltshire Integrated Care Board and is a trustee for both Wiltshire Sight and Insight Gloucestershire.

I have been a Trustee of Insight Gloucestershire since 2007 having been introduced by Tim Rice, who was a colleague at the time. My professional career is in Human Resources, so I support the team wherever I can in this area of expertise.  I’m passionate about the impact Insight has on its service users, and proud of the team we have in place delivering our work.

When I’m not working, my favourite pastime is walking my dog in the beautiful Cotswold countryside.

I have been a trustee of Insight Gloucestershire since January 2012, and became Chair in last 2024.  My career is in creative media, so in addition to the governance support as Chair of the Board, I provide support with communications including website and magazine.

It’s a very rewarding experience to appreciate how the work of the charity helps to improve the lives of so many people throughout Gloucestershire.

I joined Insight Gloucestershire in 2005 to try and put something back into society. I have a long career in business management and felt that I could use my skills to help other organisations.

I enjoy the different perspective on life that Insight Gloucestershire provides and meeting different people from my normal occupation. I am married with two children and a keen season ticket holder at Gloucester Rugby.
