We would love for you to join us at Dowty Sports and Social Club on the 3rd of June between 10.00 am and 3.30 pm for our next Eye Can exhibition.

Eye Can Gloucestershire is a free exhibition that provides an opportunity for anyone living with sight loss, along with their friends and family, to find out about the latest technology, equipment and services that are available.

The exhibition will have around 30 exhibitors covering a range of interest areas. These include technology, sport & leisure, health & well being, and children, young people, and families.

10.30 am Professor Scanlon

Professor P Scanlon – distinguished Consultant Ophthalmologist will be available to offer his expertise and answer your questions.

11.45 am Yahya Pandor

Yahya Pandor –  a trained counsellor and renowned advocate for the blind, who is also blind himself will share his story, how he recently made a new world record and how he lives well with sight loss. He will also answer your questions.

1.15 pm The Velcro Collective Seated Pilates session

Take part in a short 15 – 20 minute gentle seated Pilates session where you will work to mobilise your spine, find some flexibility through your joints, connect to your breath, and increase your overall sense of wellbeing.  The session will be fully described ensuring suitability for all.

2.30 pm Insight Gloucestershire and Sight Support – Exploring the Partnership

In July 2023 Insight Gloucestershire and Sight Support West of England partnered up to streamline operations, pooling resources like IT, HR, Finance, and Fundraising. Learn about the changes and future plans in this talk with Sight Support Senior Managers.

Getting to Eye Can Gloucestershire / Dowty Sports and Social Club

Dowty Sports & Social Limited, Down Hatherley Lane, Down Hatherley, Gloucester, GL2 9QH.

By bus

Stagecoach run the Gold Service 94 between Cheltenham Bus Station and Gloucester Bus Station. Alight at the Safran factory on Cheltenham Road East. It is a short walk to Dowty Sports & Social Club.

We are arranging a shuttle service from the end of the lane to the front entrance. The lane is narrow and we encourage you to use the car shuttle service. Volunteers will be identifiable and available to assist.

By car

From the B4063 take Down Hatherley Lane. Dowty Sports & Social is the next right turn after the Safran factory entrance.

By train

Both Cheltenham and Gloucester train stations are about a 10 minute taxi ride from Dowty Sports & Social.
