What you can expect from us
Our support is built around you – your needs, your goals, your life.

We want everyone who connects with us, through Sight Support West of England, Wiltshire Sight, or Insight Gloucestershire, to feel informed, respected and supported in a way that’s truly tailored to them.
That’s why our services are free of charge and designed around you. Every person we support is offered a full assessment to explore their individual needs, preferences and goals.
We also want to help you stay connected with what’s happening locally and in the wider sight loss community. Our free, bi-annual magazine is packed with useful information, updates on our services, and articles about living with sight loss.
Our service aims
We’re committed to providing high-quality, person-centred support. Here’s what that means in practice:
Timely responses
We respond to 100% of referrals within five working days and return all answerphone messages by the end of the next working day.
Access to expert help
You’ll be able to book an in-person appointment with a trained and knowledgeable Sight Loss Advisor within two weeks of getting in touch.
Thorough, holistic support
Every service user is offered a full assessment, with the chance to talk through all aspects of life affected by sight loss and to connect with others at a hub or social group if they choose to.
Support close to home
We’re building a network of local hubs to make sure people can access face-to-face support in their own community. The vast majority of the people we support have a hub within five miles of where they live.
Communication that works for you
Accessibility is important to us. All service users are asked their preferred method of communication and their preferences are consistently respected.
Ongoing improvement
We regularly ask for feedback so we can keep improving. At least 25% of service users who’ve had an assessment take part in a follow-up review.
Real impact
More than 90% of people say they feel more able to manage day-to-day life after working with us and 95% rate the service they receive as good, very good or excellent.
A service for everyone affected by sight loss
Whether you’ve lived with sight loss for years, are newly diagnosed, or are supporting a child or family member – we’re here for you. Our support is open to people of all ages, at any stage of life.
We’ll work with you to make sure you have the information, guidance and connections you need and that the support you receive fits your needs and your goals.
