New digital skills courses covering accessibility features and screen readers

We are pleased to be launching a series of Digital Skills courses. These practical courses are designed to help blind and partially sighted people feel more confident using smartphones and tablets.
Our Introduction to Smart Device Accessibility course explores the accessibility features already built into many devices. Sessions look at tools such as magnification, contrast settings and voice assistants, helping make text and screen content easier to see and everyday tasks easier to manage.
We are also introducing a new screen reader course, Introduction to VoiceOver and TalkBack. This course is designed for people who have little or no usable vision and would like to learn how their device can read text and screen content aloud and be controlled using touch gestures.
Courses are planned throughout the year in towns and cities across the areas we serve, including Bristol, Kingswood, Thornbury, Bath, Midsomer Norton, Salisbury, Devizes, Swindon, Trowbridge, Gloucester, Stroud, Cheltenham and Cirencester.
Places are limited and booking is essential.
Alongside these courses, one to one Digital Skills support continues to be available at many of our Community Sight Loss Advice Hubs. This means people can choose the type of support that feels right for them, whether that is learning in a small group or exploring technology individually.
To register your interest or find out about upcoming courses in your area, please contact us or view the listings for our Digital Skills training.
