Update on our Thornbury charity shop

We are sorry to share that our Thornbury charity shop, located at 18 High Street, will be closing on Saturday 4 April 2026.
Since opening in 2023, the shop has been a welcoming space for many people in the local community. Alongside our retail activity, it has offered a place where people could access information, support, and connection. We are very grateful to everyone who has supported us during that time, whether by donating, volunteering, shopping with us, or coming in for advice and a chat.
Following a review of our retail activity, we have taken the decision to close the shop as we look at future opportunities in the area. We are still accepting donations at the shop until Saturday 4 April, so if you were planning to drop anything off, there is still time.
Support for blind and partially sighted people in Thornbury will continue. we will be running a Sight Loss Advice Hub at a new venue – Thornbury Methodist Church Hall, Castle Court, Thornbury, BS35 2AQ. From Monday 13 April, the hub will run on the second Monday of each month.
There will be a drop in advice session from 1pm to 2pm, with pre-booked appointments also available and a social group running from 1pm to 3pm. Whether you are losing your sight or have been blind or partially sighted for some time, you are welcome to come along for advice, information, and the chance to connect with others.
If you would like to book an appointment, please contact Sight Support West of England on 0117 322 4885. If you are looking for support in your area, you can find details of our hubs, groups and events on our Whats On section of the website. You can search by postcode or by area, such as Thornbury.
