Technology Support Service For Blind & Partially Sighted People

We are delighted to announce our upcoming technology events and training courses. This summer, we are offering sessions designed for individuals living with sight loss who want to start using smartphones, tablets, or smart speakers, as well as those looking to enhance their skills and confidence with everyday technology.

Our goal is to support blind and partially sighted people to get online and gain the benefits of everyday technology for daily tasks and staying connected with family, friends, and the wider community.

 

Improvers Smartphone & Tablet Training this July

Join our themed sessions designed for people with sight loss who are already using a smartphone or tablet and want to build awareness, confidence, and skills. Book for individual sessions or all four.

Session Topics:

  1. 1: Reading Apps, Audiobooks and screen readers.
  2. 2: Travel Maps, Apps & Navigation.
  3. 3: Online shopping and safety.
  4. 4. Keep in touch! Video calls, voice notes & photos.

Sessions take place during July

  • Mondays in Henleaze
  • Wednesdays in Broadmead
  • Thursdays in Kingswood

 

Discover Tech ‘Have a Go’ Sessions this August

If you are living with sight loss and are curious about what technology is available to help you keep reading or stay connected to family, friends and your community, we can help.

Come and try out a smart speaker, tablet and electronic reading aids with no obligation to buy.

Sessions take place in August at:

  • Many of our sight loss advice hubs – Fishponds, Henleaze, Whitchurch, Kingswood, Thornbury, Yate, Keynsham, Bath and Midsommer Norton.
  • Central Bristol on 21st August, 10am – 12pm.

Beginners Smartphone & Tablet Training this September

We will introduce you to the core skills of using a touch screen device. Learn how to navigate around and use features which can make it more accessible for you. Become part of the digital world; emailing, messaging, using a digital assistant, and discovering helpful apps.

Sessions take place in September:

  • Mondays in Henleaze
  • Tuesdays in Bath
  • Wednesdays in Broadmead
  • Thursdays in Kingswood
